The finished leggings... really love the look of the leggings now. Much more to them and they sit really well with the jacket and dress.

Changing the leggings
As I mentioned from the photoshoot - I'm not happy with the leggings. They need more!! So I went back to my research and looked back at when I visited the Saatchi Gallery intentionally. I loved the painting affect that was used.
So, these are the leggings. They just need more to them!
Firstly, I didn't know if it was a cotton jersey or with something else in it. So I did the burn test - and yep it smelt real baaaaad! Although I really like the affect it's given after burning the edges. Definitely some inspiration for a different project.
The tools to be used, paint colours match up to the colours in the fabric.
Tried to dip dye the fabric with a darker purple colour, but it didn't come out to well.
This was done using a metal curly rubber that is normally used to scrub your pots and pans. I did each colour separately then let it dry before doing the next layer.
This one is a combination of the above one, a paintbrush and a straw. I really like the different feel to this one, maybe slightly less contrived.
This is the other sample that you can see pinned to the leggings. This is my favourite, done using the end of straws and dragging it up along the fabric layer by layer for each colour.
I did it section by section rolling over the leggings, this photo shows one more section to go!!

PHOTOSHOOT!!
A classmate and I got together to organise a photoshoot, using both our contacts for a photographer, make-up artist and model we managed to find a studio in Bermondsey to shoot it at. Was a great location and as it turns out 'Wiley' the current music star had actually been shooting his new music video here the day before!
Here are some un-edited photos that I simply took on my iphone. (It's taking time to edit the images!)
Beautiful model Melanie ...
I wanted to keep my images/poses relatively simple, having the key focus on the garments. When it came to shooting the shirt dress though, it turned out that it definitely needed some poses to show it off!
This is the wall that had been graffitied for Wiley's music video the day before!

From the photoshoot I've decided that I'm not actually happy with the leggings!I'm going to look back over my research and change the material as I've already sewn it up.

Nearly there....
Very nearly completed my garments ready for the shoot on Friday.....
Using the pivot method I didn't do too badly on getting my points accurate with the back seams on the jacket. The zips are functioning too!
My shirt dress...
In love with this space dyed thread that I used for the hem, I didn't want to use the dark colours thread that I had top-stitched in as I didn't want to draw attention to it.
Elasticated Hem
The space dyed thread blended in really well, I sewed it like this then folded it up so that the elastic wasn't visible before hand stitching it to secure it.

Finishing Touches
The majority of my final garments are sewn up, just need to add all the extras! Hope it goes well, quite exited! Got a photoshoot arranged for Friday 27th April so week to go and it needs to all be done!
This is how I've decided to gather my material into the cuffs
Adding the pocket zips
Garments so far!
This is the material I've decided to use for the simple vest top that's going on underneath the bomber jacket teamed with the leggings.

Constructing my final shirt dress!!
Ooh it's cutting out time! Have started to construct my final dress now, included image of the print (completely in love with!)
Admittedly this is one of the first times since first year I have attached cuffs, collars and zips so to say the least I was rusty on this. Lecturers guided me through it and I made sure I took photos to help me!
To add the zip into my jacket, I needed to 'mitre' it. Admittedly it did go a tiny bit wrong because I cut in the wrong direction BUT you always go about 1cm down from the initial notch for the ending of the zip! Definitely learning from my mistakes!
I need to attach all my elastic like this ( which is going at the hems and cuffs of my jacket, hem of dress and waistband of leggings. This makes is more sturdy and looks nice because you don't get such a ridge from it.
