As I mentioned from the photoshoot - I'm not happy with the leggings. They need more!! So I went back to my research and looked back at when I visited the Saatchi Gallery intentionally. I loved the painting affect that was used.
So, these are the leggings. They just need more to them!
Firstly, I didn't know if it was a cotton jersey or with something else in it. So I did the burn test - and yep it smelt real baaaaad! Although I really like the affect it's given after burning the edges. Definitely some inspiration for a different project.
The tools to be used, paint colours match up to the colours in the fabric.
Tried to dip dye the fabric with a darker purple colour, but it didn't come out to well.
This was done using a metal curly rubber that is normally used to scrub your pots and pans. I did each colour separately then let it dry before doing the next layer.
This one is a combination of the above one, a paintbrush and a straw. I really like the different feel to this one, maybe slightly less contrived.
This is the other sample that you can see pinned to the leggings. This is my favourite, done using the end of straws and dragging it up along the fabric layer by layer for each colour.
I did it section by section rolling over the leggings, this photo shows one more section to go!!
