Changes to Concept board

From looking at my concept board and having feedback from tutors, it was agreed that the black and white images just didn't sit well with my overall concept theme. Within images already in there, you can see definition coming through from the array of colours. Here is my finished concept board and a bit more research.

Africa Time!

I visited Africa for 10 days for a wedding, so made sure I kept my eye out for any images that inspired me.

I fell in love with these Masai Warriors who came along to dance at the wedding. The materials pattern/chequered pattern is dependent on which tribe they're from.

There were lots of bright colours and bold prints worn on the ladies out there. Prints is something I'd like to look into designing myself, but something I haven't done before.

Research

So, now I have my initial concept idea and inspirations, I need to explore and develop this further.  Following on from 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Air' TV show, I also wanted to look at 'Saved by the Bell'. Looking at silhouettes, prints and fabrications ideas.

Going on from Kandinsky too I have looked at Malevich too.

Concept - 90's Pop

After looking at Issey Miyake and understanding the theory and ideas behind his work, we were asked to produce a concept board. Now, from look at Issey Miyake I found one image that inspired me for my concept:

This brought into my head pictures of colour popping and particularly the hit TV show in the early 90's; The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. When talking and showing images to Caryl about this, she immediately thought of the artist Kandisnky. Below are a couple of his images:

I've decided to mix this style of art with the 90's pop culture. Here is a first attempt at my concept board, I've played around a lot with the images but still don't feel quite happy with it. Something isn't working - just need to figure out what!?
